Ronaldo Lopes signs work order for Community Center in Oiteiro

Mayor Ronaldo Lopes signed this Friday, the 3rd, the work order for the construction of the Public Community Center in the Senhor do Bonfim neighborhood, a remaining quilombola community better known as Oiteiro.

The new space will be built where the Leônidas Souza State School used to be, in ruins after being abandoned for over two decades, with an area donated by the Governor of Alagoas and approved by the State Legislative Assembly.

“We needed to do something to really provide a structure that matches what the people of Oiteiro and the other communities that will be served by the Public Community Center deserve. So we managed to donate this area to carry out this important work for you”, said Ronaldo Lopes, thanking Governor Paulo Dantas, a fundamental partner in the resumption of development in Penedo.

The new space will house the Oiteiro Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS), with new services in a spacious and comfortable location. “For those who don’t know, community services have several groups and these groups are monitored by a multidisciplinary team, with a psychologist, social worker and physical educators. And it is these groups that provide well-being for the people assisted”, highlighted the Municipal Secretary of Social Assistance, Ana Teresa Lopes, thanking the teams for their commitment.

Part of the work developed at CRAS Senhor do Bonfim was presented during the ceremony, through the choral singing group made up of women. “This is for you to understand how important this equipment is because it changes lives, it works on people’s self-esteem and will be a huge benefit for the communities”, added Ana Teresa, also highlighting the project prepared by Marcela Lopes, architect and Municipal Secretary of Strategic Government Actions (SEMAEG)

When ready, the Public Community Center’s initial goal is to serve one thousand families per year, with direct monitoring, also serving as a reference for five thousand families. Currently, CRAS Senhor do Bonfim serves more than a thousand families.

And the work of the Penedo administration, Growing With Your People, doesn’t stop. During the signing of the service order, Ronaldo Lopes announced that CRAS Santo Antônio – located in Barro Vermelho – will benefit, evolving into the Community Center structure, with a study to also implement the same structure and services in a location that serves families from the neighborhoods of Santa Isabel (Matadouro), Santa Cecília (Cacimbinhas), Campo Redondo and Barro Duro.
