Vehicle owners have until May 29th to pay the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) for the year 2024. The due date applies to all cars and motorcycles, regardless of the end of the license plate and the form of chosen payment, whether in cash or in installments.
IPVA consultation and negotiation are carried out entirely digitally, through the Finance Department (Sefaz) website or the MT Cidadão application.
For those who choose to pay in a single installment, a 10% discount is granted. This benefit is cumulative with the Nota MT program discount, which can reach up to R$100 or 10% of the IPVA value, limited to R$700. To take advantage of both discounts, you must redeem the points on the Nota website or app MT before generating the IPVA payment slip.
For those who prefer installments, the IPVA can be divided into up to eight installments, but without the right to a 10% discount on the due date. However, the MT Note benefit is still applicable to installments.
When choosing to pay in installments, drivers must observe the rules established by law. For example, the value of each installment cannot be less than a Standard Fiscal Unit (UPF), which for this month of May is quoted at R$236.79.
Furthermore, the installment payment must be formalized by May 29th, and the first installment must be paid on the same date. The remaining installments will be monthly and consecutive, so that the last installment does not exceed the reference year.
