Mato Grosso’s Current Revenue reached R$5.87 billion in the first two months of 2024, an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year, when the value reached R$5.01 billion.
In the same period, expenses grew at a lower level, 12%, jumping from R$3.17 billion to R$3.55 billion.
The data is part of the National Treasury’s Summary Budget Execution Report (RREO), a document that presents consolidated fiscal information for each entity in the Republic.
According to the survey, in the first two months of 2024 Mato Grosso’s Budget Result was R$2.15 billion, or 42% of Net Current Revenue. In the same period last year, the State Budget Result had been R$ 1.7 billion, or 38% of the RCL.
The Budget Result is obtained through the difference between budget revenues deducted from budget expenditures. If the result is positive, there is a budget surplus.
Despite the increase, Mato Grosso is not among the states with the greatest increase in revenue in the period. Minas Gerais (28%), Acre (23%), Rondônia (23%) and Pará (23%) lead the list in this regard. The entity that reduced this indicator the most in the period was Amapá (-2%), followed by Rio de Janeiro, which had a slight increase in its revenues in the period (2%).
The states that presented the highest level of current savings in relation to Net Current Revenue (RCL), in the first two months of 2024, were Amapá (58%), Rondônia (46%), Mato Grosso (45%). At the other end, the states that were least able to accumulate current savings were Rio Grande do Sul (21%), Goiás (22%) and Sergipe (23%).
The states that presented the highest percentages of investments in relation to Total Revenue were Bahia (8%), Mato Grosso do Sul (7%), Espírito Santo (7%) and Piauí with 5%. On the other hand, 7 states had no investment expenses in the period: Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Roraima, Rondônia, Tocantins, Minas Gerais and Distrito Federal.
