A 9-year-old child asked for shelter in a store after saying her mother, 28, tried to kill her with a knife. The case took place in the Colatina Velha neighborhood, in Colatina, Northwest of Espírito Santo, late this Thursday afternoon (2). According to the Military Police report, the woman was found at home and confessed that she attacked her daughter with the object.
According to the police, the child arrived at the establishment wearing a school uniform and a backpack on his back, crying desperately and was welcomed. The person responsible for the store reported the situation to the police, who went to the location and spoke to the girl. The team then located her mother and she confirmed what her daughter reported.
The mother, along with her daughter, was taken to the Colatina Regional Police Station. The girl said in her statement, spontaneously, that she had arrived from school and went to the kitchen to make a plate of food. When she was eating, her mother appeared with a knife and threatened to hand her over to her father, who is separated from her and lives in another house.
The daughter says that her mother started attacking her. Then she took a knife and stabbed the girl in the face, who put her hands in front of her to protect herself, but ended up having a finger superficially cut. To avoid being stabbed, the child said she jumped out the window of the house and ran away.
According to the police report, after the child’s report, the Colatina Guardianship Council was called to represent the girl. In a statement, the corporation reported that “the 28-year-old suspect, taken to the Colatina Regional Police Station, was interviewed and released, as the police authority did not identify sufficient elements to carry out the arrest in the act at that time.”
Colatina City Hall was also contacted by the report to find out about the assistance provided to the victim. The municipal administration, however, reported that the Guardianship Council was not contacted to deal with the case.
