This Friday (3), the Women’s Secretariat (SMDF), in partnership with the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (Seape), donated 2,000 sanitary pads to women held at the Women’s Penitentiary. This action is part of the menstrual dignity program, which aims to guarantee access to menstrual hygiene products for all women, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

The donation took place as part of activities celebrating mothers’ month and aims to promote the health and well-being of these women. “We are committed to offering support and support to women in vulnerable situations, ensuring that they have access to essential products for their health and well-being. Donating sanitary pads, in addition to being a basic care measure, is also a gesture of respect and dignity towards these women”, highlighted the Secretary for Women, Giselle Ferreira.

In addition to sanitary pads, the program includes a series of activities aimed at caring for and valuing women. One of the highlighted activities is the capotherapy workshop, which mixes elements of capoeira with body therapy, promoting physical and mental balance. Partnerships with Senac to carry out health and beautification actions are also being established, with the aim of offering services during the month of May.

In total, there are 716 custodians. Seape, through the Professional Training and Implementation of Permanent Workshops Project (Procap), promotes continuous training actions for re-educated women, in partnership with Senai and Senac to teach the courses. “In addition to actions that promote well-being and health, Seape is concerned with providing its custodians with opportunities for study and training. We understand the importance of preparing these women for the job market, so that they can achieve a different future. An example of this is the creation of Procap Mulher, which will take place this year at the Women’s Penitentiary, with the aim of qualifying re-educated women for the production of disposable pads and diapers”, stated Alex Fernandes, head of staff at Seape.
