The ports that are managed by the government of Santa Catarina presented a profit of R$67.5 million in the 2023 accounting year. The data was disclosed at the Ordinary General Meeting (AGO) of the Board of Directors of SCPar Holding, a company to which the Ports of São Francisco do Sul and Imbituba are linked. The Port of Imbituba recorded a net profit of R$37.8 million. São Francisco do Sul’s net profit was R$29.5 million (five times higher than in 2022).

The historical movement of cargo, with 16.8 million tons in São Francisco do Sul and 7.7 million tons in Imbituba, combined with management practices, with priority on rationalizing expenses, planning and operational gains, are factors that contributed for these results.

“The port administrations followed Governor Jorginho Mello’s guidance when seeking measures that would present positive results, as the balance sheets are showing. The most important thing is to understand that this profit must be converted into improvements to the infrastructure of the ports and the communities in which they are located”, says the Secretary of Ports, Airports and Railways, Beto Martins.

“It is a performance that recognizes the efforts of the port presidents and their directors who worked focused on efficiency, quality and productivity and with excellent public management focused on the ports’ activities. Together with the board of directors of SCPar, congratulations are to be made on the result presented to society in Santa Catarina”, assesses the president of the Board of Directors of SCPar, Marcelo Werner Salles.

Construction

The example of how the profits from the ports have been applied are the recovery works at Berth 201), the opening of new access and investments in the infrastructure of the Port of São Francisco do Sul, and the recovery and reinforcement works at Pier 3, the collapse (removal of submerged rocks) from the beginning of Pier 1, construction of a dolphin for mooring ships at the Port of Imbituba and revitalization and recovery of the municipality’s South Access.
