Main gifts on Mother’s Day should be clothes and perfumes

O Mother’s Day could generate R$ 334.5 million in the economy of the Federal District, according to a survey carried out by the Fecomércio Institute and released this Thursday (02).

With this volume of business, traders believe in an average growth of 19.4% in sales.

You most popular products by the public will be clothing (23.5%), cosmetics and perfumes (20.7%) and footwear (17.7%)which together total 61.9% of choices.

According to Fecomércio, the historical series reflects a small drop in expectations due to the increase in the category of retailers who expect lower sales than last year, totaling 9% of forecasts.

Another 26% have the same expectations. The majority of traders (65%) still believe in higher sales than those actually achieved on Mother’s Day 2023.

O average gift price went from R$226.77 to R$242.41, according to the consumers interviewed. The male public is willing to make more expensive purchases, averaging R$257.23, while the average value of women’s purchases should be R$233.62.

Credit payments were the preferred option for 42% of consumers, followed by cash (21.3%), Pix (19.8%) and debit (16.9%).

The president of Sistema Fecomércio-DF, José Aparecido Freire commented that “this positive trend of increased sales in commerce can be attributed to the current conditions of the economy, with controlled inflation and possible improvement in the financial situation of consumers in Brasilia in relation to the previous year” .
