SPFC fans chose the greatest idols in the club’s history and Rogério Ceni was the leader of quotes, also highlighting Raí and Jonathan Calleri. Ceni won everything at São Paulo and spent 22 years as a goalkeeper for Tricolor Paulista, most of the time as a starter. He won the Club World Cup, Libertadores, the Brasileirão Série A three times and several other cups.
Raí, another idol from SPFC’s past, also won the World Cup and Libertadores as a protagonist in the midfield of Telê Santana’s team.
Calleri is a highlight of the recent generation and has already won two cups with the club: Copa do Brasil 2023 and Supercopa do Brasil 2024.
One of the biggest clubs in Brazil, Tricolor Paulista has a large collection of great athletes and titles throughout its history.
São Paulo’s season
SPFC had a troubled start to the year. Despite winning the Super Cup against Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras, the team’s performance declined with Thiago Carpini, who ended up being fired and made way for Luis Zubeldía.
The new coach debuted, beat Barcelona-EQU away from home and drew at home against Palmeiras in the Brasileirão Série A.
“What I’m seeing is that these are players who want to learn, incorporate concepts, and are willing to work. And when we have more time, it will certainly be better, but I’m not complaining”, said the Argentine, at a press conference.
This Thursday (2), the current champion of the Copa do Brasil enters the field in the competition to duel with Águia de Marabá, away from home, in Pará. At the weekend, on the day (5), the challenge is against Vitória, also far from MorumBIS.
