Amazonas Security Forces receive new equipment in investments of R$ 13.5 million

Manaus (AM) – With investments totaling R$ 13.5 million, the Government of Amazonas reinforced its actions to repress crime with the delivery, this Thursday (2), of new equipment and technologies to the State Security and Rescue Forces. The event took place at Praça Heliodoro Balbi, in the center of Manaus.

Civil Police (PC-AM), Military (PMAM), Fire Department (CBMAM) and the State Secretariat of Public Security (SSP-AM) received new weapons, lethal and non-lethal ammunition, vehicles, as well as watercraft and ambulances . The new developments will help strengthen police actions, training and medical care for employees in the area.

All material was acquired by SSP-AM through its own resources, donations and agreements with the Federal Government. When speaking to the troops and other authorities present, vice-governor Tadeu de Souza highlighted that the investments are the result of the Wilson Lima administration’s efforts to improve the working conditions of the security forces, which is reflected in the improvement of public security indices.

“Today, we are delivering around R$13.5 million. It is an effort that has been carried out since 2021, following the launch of the Amazonas Mais Seguro program. In January of this year, Governor Wilson Lima launched Operation Impacto, which caused a stranglehold on criminal organizations and, today, we reap these results”,

highlighted Tadeu de Souza.

Technology against crime

In addition to the delivery of new equipment, the Government of Amazonas formalized the adoption of new technologies and software, such as Cellebrite. The technological tool will be used to extract data from mobile phones. In practice, the instrument will facilitate criminal investigation in the collection of evidence and in the Civil Police Intelligence and Technical-Scientific Expertise activities.

According to the head of SSP-AM, Colonel Vinícius Almeida, the investment in the device is R$3 million. He highlighted that the use of Cellebrite represents a milestone for improving investigations and solving crimes in Amazonas.

“Governor Wilson Lima and vice-governor Tadeu de Souza have, since the launch of the project, been in an incessant search for us to bring technology to the security system. We were an analog police and we are not only becoming digital, but becoming a reference in the use of technology and final delivery for the people of Amazonas, with a reduction in crime rates”,

Vehicles and weapons

In total, 164 new vehicles were delivered, 144 of which were for the Civil Police (PCAM), Military (PMAM) and SSP-AM. In addition, nine vehicles donated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) were delivered, seven to Ronda Maria da Penha, which works to combat violence against women, and two other cars to the Police Station Specialized in Crimes Against Women. Six new vans and two ambulances will be destined for the PMAM Polyclinic, in addition to items to strengthen the physical preparation of teams working at the Arpão River Bases.

There were also state investments for the acquisition of another 10,592 pieces of equipment, including R$2.2 million in new weapons and around R$450,000 in lethal and non-lethal ammunition, night vision binoculars, fire-fighting masks, boots , diving gloves and buoyancy vests.
