A school bus with five students was swept away by the current this Thursday afternoon (2), in Capinzal, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, as a result of the heavy rains that hit the municipality.

Stream overflowed and current hit buses

The incident took place in the District of Alto Alegre, in the interior of the municipality, when a stream overflowed its banks and the current hit the bus that was heading inland.

The students would have used the windows and hatch in the roof of the bus to get out. Municipal Civil Defense reported that everyone was safely removed from the vehicle. The age of the students was not disclosed.

Flood destroys businesses and breaks asphalt

In the municipality, a commercial establishment was knocked down and the asphalt of a street broke due to a flood. The fall was on Dom Vicente Gramazio Street. An electricity pole was also damaged at the site and is currently down.

Municipal Civil Defense reported that the moment is critical and the situation is an emergency. “We isolated Narciso Barison Street due to the fall,” reported Civil Defense.
