State deputy Wilker Barreto (Mobiliza) demanded a position from the company Amazonas Energia on the damage caused by frequent power interruptions in the municipality of Codajás (359 km from Manaus). According to residents, the blackouts have been occurring for more than 90 days and on April 29th there were five uninterrupted power outages during the day.

In the gallery, the parliamentarian responded to the population’s requests to ask the energy company not to harm the development of the local economy.

“We were in Codajás talking to the population. There are constant interruptions in the power supply in the municipality. Yesterday he left five times and according to traders, this was a problem lasting more than 90 days. We need energy to move the economy,” he declared.

The parliamentarian highlighted that the municipality has suffered for decades from economic damage caused by the lack of maintenance of the electricity system. In 2023, the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Amazonas (DPE-AM) took action against the concessionaire so that it could provide uninterrupted services to the population, without fluctuation. The actions would result in a fine if not complied with.
