Sergipe is unemployed more than it employs

Sergipe closed last March with a negative balance of -1,875 formal jobs. This is revealed by the balance sheet from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Novo Caged), released this Tuesday (30), by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Brazil closed the third month of this year with a positive balance of 244,315 formal jobs.

According to Novo Caged, Sergipe is among three states with the lowest balance of job creation. The other two are Alagoas (-9,589 jobs) and Paraíba: (+263 jobs). In Sergipe, the average admission salary last March was 1,702.79, with a negative variation compared to February of -0.25. In Brazil, the average admission salary last month was R$2,081.50. Compared to the previous month, there was a real reduction of R$5.25, a variation of around -0.25%.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, four of the five major groups of economic activities recorded positive balances: services, with a positive balance of 148,722, commerce, at 37,493, industry, which registered 35,886 new vacancies, and construction with 28,666. The negative result came from agriculture, which had 6,457 layoffs.
