During the celebration, the head of Women’s Safety Policies, Colonel Camila Paiva, gave a lecture covering issues such as harassment, domestic violence and assistance to women who are victims of violence. The head of the Violence Prevention Coordination, Colonel Iran Rego, represented Secretary Flávio Saraiva and spoke about the department’s actions to guarantee the safety of communities.
The presence of SSP and the holding of lectures were highlighted as important ways of establishing a rapprochement with quilombola communities, better understanding their needs and seeking to serve them in the best possible way. The garrisons of the 9th Military Police Battalion and the Maria da Penha Patrol also participated in the afro celebration, which was attended by the mayor of Pariconha, Antônio Telmo Noia, the secretary Maria José da Semudh, the executive manager of traditional peoples and human rights , Leone Silva, and representatives of other quilombos.
The end of the event was marked by an archery and crossbow shooting competition, divided into male and female categories. The Afro Celebration in Pariconha was a moment of interaction, culture and awareness promoted by the quilombola community, with the support and active participation of the SSP and other government entities.
