Bandits die in exchange of gunfire during robbery in Mato Grosso

Two individuals, both aged 26 and 24, met a tragic end after a clash with the Military Police this Friday morning (26) in Barra do Garças-Mato Grosso. They are identified as the possible perpetrators of a robbery at a commercial establishment located in the Jardim Nova Barra neighborhood, according to information provided by police authorities.

According to witness reports, the duo entered the store and violently took several people hostage. During the criminal act, they searched for valuable objects, including jewelry and money, in addition to forcing the victims to make bank transfers.

The police intervened after the alert about the robbery, and upon arriving at the scene, the suspects responded with gunfire when the police approached. In response to the imminent threat, the police team reacted, resulting in an armed confrontation. Both individuals were shot and, after being rescued, were taken to the city’s Municipal Hospital. However, they did not survive the injuries and died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

During the police action, two firearms were confiscated, which, according to investigations, had been used by the suspects, in addition to ammunition.

According to information obtained from police authorities, the individuals had a criminal history, including records of vehicle theft, participation in criminal organization activities, drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm.
