Elizabeth Campos Cardoso traveled to France last Saturday (20), where she intended to spend two days visiting friends from church. Upon landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, she was stopped by police officers who claimed that her name was on an Interpol list.

To the g1Elizabeth’s niece, Fernanda Baia, said that the airport staff said that Elizabeth’s passport was listed as stolen or lostin Portugal, on the date of August 24, 2023 and that, therefore, her name would be linked to Interpol. However, according to Fernanda, her aunt never traveled to Portugal.

“They learned in a room for 9 hours, without communication with the family. It was total despair. She fainted from so much weakness, they had to put her in a wheelchair. Then they took her to the Red Cross, which is next door from the airport, and they are keeping her there to this day”, he said.

The native of Cuiabana had a hearing with a French judge this Wednesday (24), who informed her that she could not issue any documents, and that Elizabeth would need to ask the Brazilian consulate in Paris.

The following day, the French police informed Elizabeth that there were no more irregularities with her passport, that her name had been removed from Interpol and that she could embark for Brazil.

However, according to Fernanda, upon boarding, the aunt was stopped again by immigration, for no apparent reason.
