Boxing Center hosts state boxing competition and training for the Bahia Karate Team

The Bahia Boxing and Martial Arts Center, in Largo de Roma, will be busy in the coming days with boxing and karate events and the launches of the State Government’s athlete support and incentive programs – respectively, Bolsa Esporte and FazAtleta . The equipment of the Superintendency of Sports of the State of Bahia (Sudesb), an agency of the Secretariat of Labor, Employment, Income and Sport (Setre), hosts the Boxing Champions Tournament this Saturday (27th) and Wednesday (1st).

With the elite male and female categories, more than 50 athletes from ten cities in Bahia will compete in the semifinals on the first day of competition starting at 2 pm. On the 1st, it is the turn of the finalists to compete for the prize and the points for the ranking that defines the representatives of the Bahian Team of the Olympic and Professional Boxing Federation of the State of Bahia (Boxebahia) in the national competition of the modality, scheduled for 10 to 17 June, in Brasília.

“This tournament is very important for us to eliminate some doubts in some categories, in which there are several good athlete candidates. We need to have this definition of the athletes who will join the Brazilian team soon. We want to thank all the athletes for participating and, in particular, for the support from Sudesb. We are waiting for everyone to watch this boxing spectacle”, says Afonso Nunes, president of Boxebahia.

Itabunense Camille Vitória Alvez secured a land ticket with Sudesb to compete in the selective state tournament in search of classification to join the Bahia Boxing Team in the elite women’s 50 kg category. She and her coach, Gilmarques dos Santos, arrive in Salvador on Tuesday, the 30th, in preparation for the disputes on the 1st.

Karate

The Boxing Center will also be home to karate this weekend. The Bahia Karate Team of the Bahia Karate Federation (FBK) will hold training for the kata and kumite teams this Sunday (28), from 8am to 12pm. Coaches João Luiz Alves Junior and Fabrice Shiron will provide training in all classified categories of kumite and kata for more than 100 athletes.

Sports and FazAtleta Scholarship

The launches of the FazAtleta and Bolsa Esporte 2024 programs will take place on Monday (29), at 9 am, at the Boxing Center, completing a full schedule in the coming days. During the event, the dates on which athletes will be able to register their projects will be announced and also the amount of resources to be invested by the State Government in these two programs this year.

In the presence of authorities, such as governor Jerônimo Rodrigues and state secretaries, athletes and directors of sports federations, students from the Núcleos de Lutas de Combate social project, a partnership between Sudesb and fight federations, will participate in a class on the nine sports practiced on the equipment: judo, taekwondo, karate, boxing, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, muaythai, kung fu and hapkido.
