In the ranking, the state is behind Roraima (39.6), Ceará (109.3), Sergipe (138.2), Maranhão (138.4), Alagoas (169.7), Pará (174.3) and Piauí (224.2). The Secretary of State for Health, Nayara Maksoud, highlights the efforts of the Government of Amazonas to combat the disease, with the provision of technical support and equipment for municipalities, in addition to monitoring and educational campaigns to encourage vaccination.

“The challenges are great, across the country, but we are moving forward in Amazonas, with assertive policies and joint efforts between the State Government and city halls, in the fight against dengue”,

reinforced Nayara Maksoud.

According to the director-president of the Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), Tatyana Amorim, the State maintains low dengue incidence rates thanks to the continuous efforts of health teams facing the disease annually.

One of the main preventive measures against dengue is the elimination of breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, by combating stagnant water in containers, which is a collective responsibility.

“We always reinforce the importance of everyone avoiding breeding sites. From the last quarter of last year until now, there have been two major social mobilization actions with ‘D-Day’ to prevent the disease in the state”, adds Tatyana.

Coping

The operationalization of combating cases of arboviruses is carried out by the Municipal Health Departments, but the FVS-RCP, as a State Government body, offers technical support, monitors immunization campaigns, communication and health education actions, in addition to providing support strategic and professional approach to strengthen the fight against these diseases.

Among the actions developed in Amazonas is the reinforcement of the fight against diseases such as dengue fever, Oropouche fever and malaria. In March this year, 20 vehicles and 125 insecticide sprayers were delivered to 20 municipalities in the interior of the state, with an investment of approximately R$5 million. These deliveries expand surveillance and service capacity in remote and difficult-to-access areas.

At the time, the municipalities selected to receive the vehicles and equipment were Apuí, Barcelos, Benjamin Constant, Borba, Boca do Acre, Coari, Canutama, Guajará, Eirunepé, Humaitá, Iranduba, Itacoatiara, Lábrea, Manacapuru, Manaus, Manicoré, Novo Aripuanã , Tabatinga, Tefé and São Gabriel da Cachoeira.

These locations were selected based on disease burden criteria in urban and rural areas, with access by land. Another 186 sprays were delivered on Thursday (25), during the VIII State Seminar Allusive to the Day to Fight Malaria, coordinated by FVS-RCP.
