Hollywood’s new King Midas film is based on an original idea of his own.
Steven Spielberg is still the highest-grossing director of all time. That’s likely to change when James Cameron releases Avatar 3, but it looks like the Jaws author may have a new blockbuster on his hands. The reason is that his next film will take him back to the science fiction genre.
An original idea from Spielberg himself
Let us remember that Spielberg contributed unforgettable titles to science fiction cinema, such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ET, the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and Minority Report. His last contribution to the genre was the entertaining adaptation of Ready Player One, but now he’s preparing a film based on an idea from Spielberg himself.
Details about the story remain secret, but it is known that it will revolve around UFOs and that the script will be written by David Koepp, who has already collaborated with Spielberg on titles such as Jurassic Park, The Lost World, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Variety clarifies that the project is in an early stage of development, so it will be some time before we see a film that doesn’t even have a title yet. However, the combination of Spielberg and science fiction is more than enough for us to follow its development closely.
