Measures aim to guarantee the safety and integrity of children and young people during festivities

The Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM), through the Parintins Public Prosecutor’s Office, will monitor compliance with the standards established in Ordinance No. 01/2024, which defines guidelines for the participation and protection of children and adolescents during the 57th Parintins Folklore Festival , held on June 28, 29 and 30, 2024, at Bumbódromo.

The ordinance, signed by judges who work in the district of Parintins, is based on the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) and does not only apply to the festival period, but also to the events that precede it, such as the rehearsals in Parintins , the parties involving the bois-bumbás, bois-mirins, square dances and dances.

Inspection by the MPAM will take place at the rehearsal sites and at the entrances to the Bumbódromo, checking whether the minors have obtained authorization and whether they are properly identified and aligned with the associations.

“The Public Prosecutor’s Office will be committed to ensuring that supervision takes place and that all rules are observed, maintaining a dialogue with associations and society, because it is not enough to just have this repressive character, it is important to listen to the difficulties and solve such problems”, stated the promoter Marcelo Bitarães de Souza Barros.

The document establishes specific measures for the participation of minors, including a ban on entry for children under 10, the requirement for judicial authorization for the use of fireworks by minors under 18, time restrictions and age restrictions at events. specific events, such as in performances by the boi-bumbá groups, where children under six years of age are not allowed, except in junior performances.

In case of non-compliance with the determinations, the MPAM may issue infraction notices and impose fines in accordance with item II of article 81 of the ECA, in the amount of R$ 3,000.00 to R$ 10,000.00, with the administrative measure of interdicting the establishment until payment of the fine imposed.
