In one of the bets, the lucky person matched 20 tens, winning the prize of R$8.7 million. In the second bet, he won R$212,000 for not having matched any number – Lotomania also rewards people who don’t match any numbers and, therefore, is known as the “unlucky game”.

The city of Roncador, where the winner lives, has just over 11,250 thousand inhabitants, according to the Census by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

According to Caixa Econômica Federal, the numbers drawn were 05 – 12 – 20 – 29 – 33 – 35 – 36 – 37 – 40 – 44 – 54 – 59 – 60 – 62 – 70 – 79 – 81 – 82 – 83 – 97.

Adding the two prizes, the winner took jackpot of R$ 8,974,170.70.

According to the owner of the lottery house, Paulo Richard Howthorn, this is the first time that a million-dollar amount has come out in the city.

“The city is eager to find out who the winner is, but there is no way of knowing for ethical reasons and the bank’s own guidelines”, he said.

Both bets were made simply, with 50 numbers bet on each, and in the same lottery office in the city center.

In Paraná, in addition to Roncador’s bet, a simple bet from São Mateus do Sul won R$85,053.17.

According to the lottery, the player played a game known as a “mirror bet”: in a simple bet, he chose to mirror the chosen numbers, that is, to play numbers different from those he had chosen.

“Lotomania has the probability of getting it right twice in the same game, so this bet won on its own,” said Paulo.

According to Caixa Econômica Federal, in Lotomania the player chooses 50 numbers from a universe of 100 alternatives, that is, he chooses half of the dozens on the card. There are prizes for 20, 19, 18, 17, 16 and 15 hits, as well as for those who don’t match any number.

In addition to the option to mark on the wheel, the bettor can also mark fewer than 50 numbers and let the system complete the remaining game.

The bet costs R$3. The draws are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 8pm.

In the case of the mirror bet, two games are made. In the second, you automatically bet on the remaining 50 tens. In this way, the player plays the 100 lottery numbers, in two different combinations.

The probability of matching the 20 Lotomania numbers, according to Caixa, is one in 11,372,635, that is, for every 11 million bets, only one will be a winner.
