In the last year, the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina (MPSC) played a crucial role in recovering resources for public coffers, vigorously combating tax evasion. Under the leadership of the Attorney General of Justice, Fábio de Souza Trajano, who took office in April 2023, the institution celebrated the significant achievements of the first year of its management, in an interview with Portal ND+.
A notable milestone was the almost unbelievable recovery of almost R$1 billion. DThe amount, R$244 million, has already been returned to public coffers, while an impressive R$670 million is being collected in installments. Trajano emphasized the importance of this achievement and highlighted the MPSC’s continued commitment to ensuring the state’s financial integrity.
In partnership with other institutions, such as the Civil Police, Military Police, Fire Department, Criminal Police, Federal Highway Police and State Finance Department, the GThe Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) conducted 67 operations last year. These operations resulted in more than 1,000 search warrants and approximately 300 arrests. Trajano highlighted the importance of collaboration between institutions to combat criminal organizations, emphasizing that this technical work requires the contribution of several people and bodies.
Furthermore, the MPSC has strengthened its focus on recovering substantial sums related to tax evasion. Trajano emphasized that this is a historic priority for the institution and that they are constantly improving their methods. In the previous year, the MPSC contributed to the return of R$244 million to public coffers, in addition to the R$670 million that is being recovered through installments. He expressed the imminence of changes in the work approach, aiming to further improve the results achieved.
