It was sanctioned Law 6,224 of 2024, authored by deputy Junior Mochi (MDB), establishes Biologist Day in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, to be celebrated annually on September 3rd. The new standard was published in the Official Gazette this Wednesday (24).
The commemorative date is also included in the State’s Official Calendar of Events. According to the deputy, Biology professionals play an extremely important role in the preservation and sustainable management of the Cerrado and Pantanal ecosystems, recognized as one of the regions with the greatest biodiversity and global environmental relevance.
“Through scientific investigations, systematic monitoring and conservation activities of indigenous species, these professionals contribute significantly to the perpetuation of existing forms of life and to the elucidation of the ecological mechanisms that govern this unique environment,” he said.
Biologists work in environmental monitoring programs designed to assess water quality, the integrity of aquatic ecosystems and the detection of polluting agents, providing essential information for analyzing the health of the biome and implementing strategies to mitigate adverse impacts.
