Sergipe should receive investment of US$500 million from company responsible for onshore oil exploration | Sergipe

With the largest onshore oil production field in the country, Sergipe is expected to receive an investment of US$500 million over the next 10 years from Carmo Energy, the company responsible for exploration in the state.

In the oil exploration market for 60 years, Sergipe’s wells are currently managed by the company that works to take oil from the Carmópolis wells to the Aracaju Waterway Terminal, Tecarmo.

According to the geology coordinator, Fernando Yoshitato, As elsewhere, most of Sergipe’s extraction fields are on land. “They move pumps on the surface, which take the oil through intelligent lines to the collection stations, where the treatment process is carried out and then only the oil is moved to Tecarmo and from there for export,” he said.

Regarding the future of onshore extraction in the state, Carmo Energy’s regulation manager, Felipe Passos, highlighted that investments will be made. “Something over 500 million dollars, which we will invest over the next 10 years. These values ​​represent the activities we intend to carry out in drilling wells and reopening wells. There are several actions that will be carried out to increase production and increase the useful life of the field.”

Unlike terrestrial production, oil production in deep waters has not yet advanced. A Petrobras hibernated the platforms on the coast of Sergipe and, without an interested buyer, they will be dismantled.

A state-owned company reported that it plans to resume investment here in the state in 2029with exploration in deep waters, one of the biggest discoveries in recent years.

“For Sergipe it is a redemption, because we will produce almost 240 thousand barrels of oil per day. There are almost 18 million cubic meters per day. 20% of national production”, explained the Secretary of State for Economic Development and Science and Technology, Valmor Barbosa.
