A criminal lawyer is suspected of being part of a faction that participated in the torture of a 31-year-old man in Lages, according to the Civil Police of Santa Catarina. She and three other men, who were allegedly part of the group, were temporarily arrested on April 17 and on Tuesday (23).

According to the DIC (Criminal Investigations Department), which is investigating the case, the four temporarily detained at the Lages Prison are suspected of being part of a criminal organization, as well as extortion through kidnapping and torture. The identification of those involved was not revealed.

According to the Civil Police, the lawyer is suspected of being part of the PGC (First Group of Santa Catarina) faction and of being among the group of people who decided and carried out the torture of a 31-year-old man on January 12, 2023.

The investigation found that the victim had been tortured by the gang over a drug debt. He was captured and beaten with rifle butts, punches and beatings in Lages, in Serra Catarinense.

In addition to the arrest, the Civil Police also carried out search and seizure warrants at the criminal lawyer’s home and office.

The operation that arrested the magistrate was accompanied by representatives of the OAB/SC (Brazilian Bar Association of Santa Catarina). ND Mais sought out the entity to comment on the associate, but has not yet received a response until the last update of this text. The space remains open.
