Minas Gerais Agency | Eighth on the list of most wanted criminals in Minas Gerais is arrested

The eighth member of the list of most wanted criminals in Minas Gerais was arrested in the interior of São Paulo this Wednesday (24/4).

Eberton Sales Morais, also known as Chabalá, was hiding in the rural area of ​​São José dos Campos and used a false name. He was detained by the Três Corações Civil Police team.

As a result, the effectiveness of this edition of the Procura-se program exceeds 66%, with eight of the 12 targets listed in the last list, launched in August, removed from circulation.

The current edition of Procura-se is focused on the arrest of men with outstanding arrest warrants and a criminal record that contains repeated crimes. The convictions of the 12 targets total 400 years in prison.

Eberton had three arrest warrants for drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm.

In 2019, he was the target of Operation Hefesto, by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, one of the largest actions to repress organized crime in the state, which aimed to dismantle the criminal networks of a faction.

Wanted

In this edition, eight of the 12 targets have already been found. Wesley Militão was arrested in Cabo Frio; Gilcimar da Silva, located in São Paulo; Felipe Augusto Rodrigues Silva, arrested in Rio de Janeiro; David Benedito dos Santos Neto, killed after a confrontation with drug traffickers, also in Rio; Roberto Carlos Paranhos, killed in a police confrontation; Jackson da Conceição da Silva, arrested in Belo Horizonte; Eduardo Lourenço, imprisoned in Complexo da Maré and, now, Eberton Moraes, in the interior of São Paulo.

It is worth mentioning that in the five previous editions of Busca-se – in 2011 (two lists), 2012, 2017 and 2021 – 51 of the 62 targets launched were arrested. In the general sum of all six lists, of the 74 criminals disclosed, 59 have been located so far, which represents 79% of the program’s effectiveness.

Procura-se is coordinated by the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security (Sejusp), in partnership with the Civil Police, the Military Police, the Military Fire Brigade (CBMMG), the Criminal Police, the Socio-educational System, the Public Ministry and the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG).

The objective is to arrest individuals fleeing from Justice, based on qualified actions by the police, Intelligence Agencies and citizen participation, through complaints to Unified Denúncia Hotline 181.

In addition to the arrest, publicizing the 12 wanted men on posters and also online has the benefit of inhibiting the circulation of the listed criminals.
