One driver was caught transporting a pig tied to the bed of a vehicle on Rodovia Raposo Tavares, at km 26, in Cotia, Greater São Paulo, on Wednesday, 24.
In the images posted on social media, it is possible to see the animal struggling to try to free itself from the ropes while the vehicle rocks, due to the size of the pig. It is also possible to identify a goat next to the animal.
The video sparked outrage among internet users. “At times like these, you have to support vegans. Why is that, man?”, asked one. “Absurd,” said another.
According to article 235 of the Brazilian Traffic Code, transporting animals cannot be done outside the vehicle, not without authorization. The conduct is considered serious, punishable by a fine of R$ 195.23 and five points on the license, in addition to vehicle retention.
