Young man shot in kidnapping in Rio is in ‘excellent clinical condition’

The medical bulletin from Hospital Samaritano Botafogo, updated this Thursday (25), reported that the patient Bruno Lima da Costa Soares, 34, shot during a bus hijacking in Rio de Janeiro in March, is in excellent clinical condition.

According to the Hospital, Bruno has been undergoing constant physiotherapy sessions to regain muscle strength. The institution also stated that the patient’s health condition is stable.

The latest news regarding Bruno’s health status, released on April 8 by Tribuna, was that he had returned to the Intensive Treatment Center (CTI), where he underwent a drainage procedure, under general anesthesia, after suffering a stroke. The condition showed accumulation of fluids around the heart and lungs.

Remember the case

The hijacking of the bus that had Juiz de Fora as its final destination occurred at Rodoviária Novo Rio on the afternoon of March 12th and lasted around three hours. Sixteen people were taken hostage by an armed man, including elderly people and children. Bruno, who is an electrical engineering student and a Petrobras employee, was the victim with the most serious injuries. The kidnapper surrendered to the Military Police and is under arrest.
