The bohemian ‘vibe’ of Grande Tijuca stands out with the participation of 24 bars in the 17th edition of Di Buteco Food. The competition, which has a total of 143 competing establishments, divides participants into three circuits: capital, Baixada Fluminense and Niterói. From April 5th to May 5th, bars in the region are competing for prizes, offering snacks at a single price of R$35.

Therefore, the RIVER DIARY created the itinerary of the 24 competing bars and pubs in the region, so that Rio residents wouldn’t miss out on any delights.

1 – Bar do Canedo (Tijuca)

Operation: Mondays from 12pm to 10pm | from Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 11pm | Sundays from 12pm to 7pm.

Snack: Fresh pork ribs and pork loin slowly cooked with chickpeas, in a rich sauce with Calabrian sausage and spices. Served with bacon farofa and French bread.


2 – Gilson’s Bar (Vila Isabel)

Operation: Monday to Wednesday from 11am to 4pm | from Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 10pm | Sundays from 11am to 9pm.

Snack: Barriga de Tanquinho: Pork belly bathed in cachaça seasoned with finger of girl pepper, served with pineapple jelly.


3 – Beneh Gastrobar (Vila Isabel)

4 – Cabeça de Bagre (Vila Isabel)

Snack: Don’t touch the Mussels: Portion of mussels, breaded and fried, covered in an oriental sweet and sour sauce, with Korean cucumber salad.


5 – Guay (Tijuca)

Operation: Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 9:20pm | Sundays from 12pm to 5:20pm.

Snack: In Lugares do Brasil: Fried rolls filled with real food from Brazil: meat from Barreado in the south, shrimp from Vatapá in the northeast, chicken from Galinhada in the center-west, okra from Caruru in the north and pork from feijoada in southeast.


6 – Maria Lôca Bar (Tijuca)

Snack: Porquinha loca: Pork rib ragout accompanied by polenta dice stuffed with Parmesan cheese, served with a separate sauce prepared with the rib broth.


7- Angurmê Afro Brazilian Cuisine (Vila Isabel)
