According to data from sectoral research conducted by ABCasa (Brazilian Association of Home Articles, Decoration, Gifts, Housewares, Parties, Flowers and Textiles) in partnership with the Institute of Industrial Studies and Marketing (IEMI), the State of Bahia stands out as an essential hub in the national market for home and decoration items.
With a significant representation, Bahia corresponds to 5.2% of the total consumption of household items in Brazil, consolidating itself as one of the main highlights in the northeastern scenario. In addition to ranking 9th among the states that export the most home and decoration items.
In relation to retail points of sale, Bahia has 14,882 establishments, which is equivalent to 6.2% of the national total, demonstrating its significant presence in the household products trade. Of these, 7,662 are specialized, with 2,398 furniture accessories stores and 2,244 domestic and personal items stores, employing a total of 37,093 people.
In non-specialized commerce, Bahia stands out with 7,207 professionals employed in department stores and department stores. Home centers and building materials stores with a total of more than 21 thousand employees.
