After a chase, this Thursday (25), a Sergipe Civil Police officer fired “warning shots” at a suspect of stealing cell phones, on Av. Hermes Fontes, in Bairro Luzia, in Aracaju.

According to police chief Paulo Cristiano Ricarte, he was inside his own vehicle when he witnessed the attempted robbery at a bus stop. He gave the order to stop, but the suspect did not obey.

“He was visibly upset, I don’t know if it was drugs or alcohol, but he didn’t surrender and didn’t want to hand over his belongings,” the police chief reported.

While escaping, the suspect ended up crashing into a vehicle, dropping the backpack, which contained the victims’ cell phones, which were recovered and returned by the deputy.

According to the agent, witnesses stated that the man hid in the parking lot of a supermarket and was visibly bleeding, but the police chief decided not to continue the search, as he had no police backup.

The Sergipe Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that the police officer registered a police report and asked that information about the suspect involved in the crimes and his location be sent to Hotline (181). Confidentiality is guaranteed.
