During the training, lunch ladies, security guards and teachers were instructed on how to act in emergency situations, such as choking, seizures, cardiac arrests, electric shocks and other eventualities that require specialized intervention. The Secretary of State for Early Childhood of Alagoas, Caroline Leite, highlighted the importance of these trainings to guarantee the safety of children who attend these educational spaces.
The Safe Daycare project meets one of the requirements of the Lucas Law (Law 13,722/2018), which makes mandatory the training of teachers and employees of public and private Basic Education establishments, as well as children’s recreation spaces. This legislation is a tribute to student Lucas Begalli, who died at the age of 10 due to a lack of adequate assistance following a choking episode during a school trip.
The Safe Creche project has traveled to several municipalities in Alagoas, offering training and guidance to ensure the safety and well-being of children in daycare centers and schools. The training of professionals who work in these spaces is essential to guarantee an effective response in emergency situations and to reassure parents regarding the safety of their children while they are under the care of these early childhood education institutions.
