Governor Paulo Dantas (MDB) swore in, this Wednesday morning (24), the members of the Alagoas Without Hunger State Council, who will plan actions to combat hunger among the population in situations of poverty and extreme poverty.
The ceremony took place in the Aqualtune auditorium, at Palácio República dos Palmares. Paulo officially opened the council’s work.
The presidency of the collegiate will be led by the Secretary of State for Planning, Management and Heritage, Paula Dantas, who already coordinates the government program Alagoas Sem Fome, launched at the end of last year.
“We are promoting collective engagement for what will be the largest food security and hunger relief program in the State of Alagoas. The initiative is fundamental, especially for the people who need it most. The council is a meeting of forces from various bodies to ensure the success and durability of the program, including so that it is sustainable and able to put food on people’s tables”, highlighted the governor.
The council has 57 members. His actions, according to the governor, will allow integration between public authorities and private sector sectors, allowing solutions in public policies to combat hunger to meet the needs of the poor population.
The collegiate has representatives from strategic departments, such as Primeira Infância (Cria), through the Cria Card; Education (Seduc), with the National School Meal programs in the State Education Network and Mais Merenda, in addition to Cartão Escola 10; Agriculture (Seagri), with the Family Farming, Leite do Coração, Planta Alagoas and Fingerling Distribution programs; Social Assistance and Development (Seades), through Popular Restaurants, Nutritional Complexes and emergency programs for the population in situations of vulnerability and social risk.
However, the group’s actions will be carried out through actions that pass through all State departments in a transversal manner.
Last year, Governor Paulo Dantas sanctioned the bill that established Alagoas Without Hunger as a permanent state public policy. The program consists of an interinstitutional combination of public and private efforts and actions aimed at combating hunger among populations in situations of poverty and extreme poverty in the state.
The initiative encourages the development and implementation of effective public policies that enable the reduction of food and nutritional insecurity in the state. And, to this end, it has measures within the state departments that work directly to combat hunger in specific actions, in accordance with their responsibilities.
