Apartment in Balneário Camboriú was valued at R$ 10 million

The Federal Police of Paraná uncovered a corruption scheme involving the diversion of resources from the Unified Health System (SUS). During the “Perpetual Motion” operation, it was discovered that misappropriated amounts financed the purchase of a luxury apartment valued at more than R$10 million in Balneário Camboriú.

Last Tuesday (23), the PF executed a search and seizure warrant at the suspected property, in addition to 12 other warrants in São Paulo and Curitiba. The investigation resulted in the seizure of ten properties, totaling more than R$20 million in assets. The apartment in question was registered in the name of a fictitious company, linked to one of those investigated, who is also a beneficiary of emergency aid.

The operation seized high-value vehicles and significant amounts of cash. Shares of two companies were also blocked, totaling R$500,000 in capital. It is estimated that almost R$30 million in assets were hidden by the scheme.

The crimes investigated include money laundering, criminal association and criminal organization, with penalties of up to 18 years in prison.

About operation:

“Moto-perpétuo” is a continuation of Operation Fidúcia, which identified fraud in tenders and diversion of SUS funds through OSCIPs, with an estimated diversion of R$14 million, although audits suggest a total of R$70 million in all of Paraná.

The operation had the support of the Federal Revenue Service for tax analysis of those involved. A team of 55 federal police officers and 10 Federal Revenue analysts were deployed to execute the search and seizure warrants, marking a significant step in the fight against corruption and the embezzlement of public funds in the country.
