Sixteen of the 122 cities in Minas Gerais that were awarded the “gold seal” for reaching the target in 14 vaccines for children under one year old and one year old are from the coverage area of the g1 Grande Minas.

The recognition is granted through Bora Vacinar, the result of a partnership between the Government of Minas Gerais and the Public Ministry with the aim of valuing city halls that have reached or come close to immunization targets.

To check the seal, the coverage of the following vaccines is analyzed: BCG, Human Rotavirus, Pneumococcal, Meningo C, Pentavalent (DTP/HepB/Hib), Polio VIP, Yellow Fever, Pneumo10 (1st Booster), Meningo C (1st Booster ), MMR – D2, Poliomyelitis OPV, DTP (1st booster), chickenpox and childhood hepatitis A.

The vaccination coverage target recommended by the Ministry of Health for BCG and rotavirus vaccines is 90%. For other vaccines, the target is 95%.

The following were awarded the gold seal: Minas Novas, Varzelândia, Berizal, Claro dos Poções, Montezuma, Rubelita, São João do Pacuí, Cachoeira de Pajeú, Divisa Alegre, Comercinho, Monjolos, Santo Hipólito, Águas Vermelhas, Dom Bosco, Formoso and Natalânda .

“The success of immunization programs in Brazil in previous years ended up causing the population itself to neglect the issue of vaccination. Therefore, our effort is even greater and we really need the action of mayors, health secretaries, surveillance coordinators, community health agents, nurses, among other top professionals”, said the Secretary of State for Health, Fábio Baccheretti, in seal delivery ceremony.

“Vaccines are one of humanity’s greatest achievements. But, unfortunately, we have recently seen a misinformation campaign among the population and many people refusing to be vaccinated. We have to reverse this situation, which is very complex”, added the Attorney General of Minas Gerais, Jarbas Soares Júnior.
