With the recent change in leadership of the Archdiocese of Maceió, the Public Ministry of Alagoas (MPAL) received, this Tuesday (23), in the headquarters building of the Attorney General’s Office, in the Poço neighborhood, the new head of the metropolitan headquarters Dom Carlos Alberto Breis Pereira and other representatives from the leadership of the Catholic Church, as well as advisors from the Leobino and Adelaide Motta Foundation for a discussion on the structure of the aforementioned philanthropic entity and the maintenance of a transparent administration based on the purpose of serving good. The meeting was opened by the acting attorney general, Lean Araújo.

Prosecutor Givaldo Lessa, head of the Foundations Prosecutor’s Office, evaluates the initiative as a desire to perpetuate the foundation’s good actions in favor of the most vulnerable.

“It is with great satisfaction that we receive, at the Attorney General’s Office, the first meeting of the Leobino and Adelaide Motta Foundation and all its governing bodies under the presidency of Dom Beto Breis, new Archbishop of Maceió. In the perception of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Dom Beto’s desire to provide the foundation with increasingly effective action based on attention to the most vulnerable was clear. The initiative to hold the meeting at the headquarters of the Public Ministry also demonstrates that the entity wants the veiling activity to be carried out in the most transparent and harmonious way possible. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank Dom Antônio Muniz and all the counselors for the work carried out up to this point and wish Dom Beto Breis an administration enlightened by fraternity and an unshakable feeling of seeking social justice”, he emphasizes.

Archbishop Dom Beto Breis highlights the time of donation to society and the importance of unity between the Church and the councils so that the foundation does not deviate from the purposes assigned to it.

“The foundation was created in 1956 with very specific and important purposes such as spreading the Christian faith, the Catholic faith, and at the same time promoting the training of new health professionals. This morning we met with various councils and bodies of the foundation, thinking about how, in fact, the foundation’s resources continue to serve and further guarantee that these purposes are accepted and implemented. These are resources, properties, assets, like all foundations but, in view, above all these assets. Our proposal is that, above all, the poorest benefit and guarantee the objectives established since the beginning, almost seventy years ago, of this foundation, which is the second largest in the state of Alagoas”.

The meeting was also attended by priests, canons and monsignors who advise the archbishop and have direct links with the foundation.
