Off-duty police officer shoots nightclub employee during fight in Manaus

A military police officer, whose identity was not revealed, shot an employee in the leg of a nightclub, located in the Morada do Sol complex, Central-South Zone of Manaus, during widespread confusion in the early hours of Sunday (21). In addition to the woman, another customer, who was involved in the confusion, was also grazed by the shot. The case was recorded by the establishment’s security cameras. Watch the video above.

A witness, who asked not to be identified, told the g1 that the police officer had been stopped by security guards at the entrance to the establishment, because he did not agree to leave the weapon he was carrying in the nightclub’s safe.

“He didn’t like the impediment and, at the same time, a customer who was entering the establishment would have bumped into his wife, but as far as I know, it wasn’t intentional. And then the confusion began”, narrated the witness.

Security camera images obtained by Amazon Network They show the police officer at the door of the establishment, using his phone, when another customer arrives at the scene. The man talks to other people and bumps into a woman who was later identified as the PM’s wife.

Upon seeing the situation, the police officer filmed questioning the man and then punching him, who retaliated and started widespread confusion in the establishment. The police officer then pulled out his gun and fired a shot, but ended up hitting the employee working at the reception.

After the shot, people dispersed and the police officer left the nightclub. The recordings show the employee desperate and asking for help. Then, the agent entered the establishment again, looked at the shot woman and fled.

The employee was hit in one of her legs and was left with a bullet lodged in it. She and the other client, who was involved in the confusion and was grazed, were taken to Hospital 28 de Agosto. The woman underwent surgery to remove the projectile.

In a statement, the Military Police reported that the officer involved in the confusion was off duty. The corporation also said that it initiated an administrative process to investigate the case and the police officer’s conduct.
