Former football player from Roraima, Rubens da Silva, known as Rubão, died this Tuesday (23), after the car he was driving went into the preferential lane and was hit by a pickup truck, in the Aparecida neighborhood, north of Boa Vista. . Rubens was 74 years old.
According to the Roraima Military Police (PMRR), the car Rubens was driving crossed the intersection of Rua Alcemir de Souza Mota and Avenida Capitão Júlio Bezerra and was hit by the truck. With the impact of the crash, the other vehicle also collided with a cafeteria cart and the wall of a house. The case happened yesterday morning.
Witnesses also reported that the victim did not see the truck, resulting in the accident. As a result of the crash, the car climbed onto the sidewalk and crashed into a snack bar and destroyed part of a wall. The other driver was not injured and did not require medical attention.
Rubens was taken to the General Hospital of Roraima (HGR) with multiple injuries, but he did not survive and died in the unit yesterday afternoon. On social media, GAS, the club for which Rubão played, published a note of condolence lamenting the death of the former player.
Rubão’s wake continues until 4:30 pm this Wednesday, at the Orsolu Velatório Center. The burial is scheduled for 5pm at the Campo da Saudade Cemetery, in the Centenário neighborhood, west of the capital.
