SÃO DOMINGOS DO MARANHÃO – A 24-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon (23) on suspicion of rape and robbery against a woman in the municipality of São Domingos do Maranhão.
It is stated in the investigation that, in the early hours of last Sunday (21), in the Bela Vista subdivision, the person being investigated, after surrendering the victim, caused embarrassment by attempting sexual intercourse and libidinous acts.
During the sexual violence, the woman managed to escape from her abuser, running to a bush area, and was later rescued by members of the public. The suspect also stole the victim’s cell phone, a bank card and money.
With the arrest warrant already in place, a team of civil police officers managed to locate and arrest the suspect of sexual abuse in Povoado Baixão Grande, in the rural area of São Domingos do Maranhão.
After the usual procedures, the prisoner was sent to the Presidente Dutra prison unit where he must remain at the disposal of the Justice.
