What was supposed to be a trip to the emergency room for an x-ray became a source of apprehension for Silvana Albuquerque, 35 years old. This is because the seamstress’s daughter, 8 years oldwho accompanied her to take the exam, was ‘accidentally’ poked in the shoulder with a syringe. The incident occurred last Wednesday, the 17th, when the two were passing through the emergency room corridor in Barra Velha (SC).

In an interview with EarthSilvana says that she was next to her daughter, hand in hand, when a professional, who had two syringes in her hands, came out of the medication room and bumped into the child.

“She turned around as I was passing by with my daughter. And when she turned around, I don’t know if she lost her balance, I know she stuck the needle in my daughter. She said ‘sorry’, because it was very quick and went back to nursing room”, he reports.

Silvana says her daughter felt the moment the needle pierced her arm. Upon noticing the girl’s discomfort, Silvana noticed some small blood stains on the t-shirt she was wearing. Based on the way the professional carried the syringe, the seamstress says she believes the material had been used on another patient. “She had her hand on her shoulder, and I thought it was strange. She told me everything she felt, and I was desperate, not knowing what to do.”
