Equatorial Energia, responsible for supplying electricity in Alagoas, announced that it will propose an average adjustment of 2.67% in electricity tariffs for residential consumers in the state. This increase is part of the annual tariff review planned by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and should come into force as of the May invoice.

The announcement of the adjustment is scheduled for this Tuesday, April 23, according to the decision taken at a hearing at the beginning of the year. The new tariff will be applied to 1.3 million consumer units spread across the state’s 102 municipalities.

While residential consumers, connected to low voltage, will face an increase in their electricity bills, high voltage customers, such as industries, will see an average reduction of 3.34% in their tariffs. According to Aneel, the weighted average effect of the tariff adjustment for all consumers will be an increase of 0.93%.

The main factors that influenced the adjustment include costs with sectoral charges, energy distribution activities and financial components. The proposal will still be evaluated and approved at the Ordinary Public Meeting of the Aneel board, scheduled for April 30th.
