Secretary of Public Security takes stock of police performance in the 1st quarter of the year

The Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (SSP-BA) released, this Tuesday (23), the results of operations for the first quarter of 2024. Four thousand people were arrested, 35 faction leaders were reached and 2 thousand firearms , including 19 rifles, were seized.

The numbers were released at an event at the SSP Operations and Intelligence Center (COI), in the Bahia Administrative Center (CAB), in Salvador. According to Marcelo Werner, secretary of the security agency, the leaders found were responsible for operating drug trafficking in Bahia and ordering deaths in other states.

Among the leaders, 10 were part of the Crime Deck. It catalogs information about the most dangerous fugitives in Bahia, such as their name, nickname, area of ​​activity, as well as their photo. The purpose of the disclosure is to count on the help of anonymous reports that can help locate the criminals.

The person responsible for the organization still detailed the reinforcement of policing in the neighborhoods of Periperi, Vila Verde and Lobato. In these locations, a rifle, a submachine gun, pistols, around 80 magazines and ballistic vests were located with five criminals.

The general delegate of the Civil Police of Bahia, Heloísa Brito, reinforced that through intelligence actions, five suspects were located outside the state. Secretary Marcelo Werner explained that the arrests took place in the states of Ceará, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe and Rio de Janeiro.

“There is no point hiding outside of Bahia, as we will go after each one”, added delegate Heloísa Brito.
