The Amazonas Sustainable Development Agency (ADS) released, this Tuesday (23/04), the result of Notice No. 001/2024-CIL/ADS regarding the School Furniture Regionalization Program (Promove) Escolas da Floresta, in edition of the Official Gazette of the State of Amazonas nº 35,206, dated April 18, 2024.
The CEO of ADS, Michelle Bessa, highlighted the importance of the program. “It will further strengthen the furniture sector, and will also contribute to the generation of more jobs and income. We thank everyone involved and wish them success in this new stage,” she said.
Furniture makers from all municipalities in Amazonas had the opportunity to become accredited and, after verifying their documentation, they will be able to join the ADS program. The initiative will benefit the Forest Schools in the municipalities of São Sebastião do Uatumã, Presidente Figueiredo, Beruri, Canutama, Tapauá, Borba, Novo Aripuanã and Manicoré.
The priority school furniture project for the Escolas da Floresta units is part of the Educa + Amazonas program, launched in 2021 and aims to implement, in the state network, a look at Environmental Education based on socio-environmental sustainability models, with the development of appropriate technologies. The schools, designed to have a low environmental impact, will be built using a sustainable model, using wood from sustainable forest management.

In total, approximately 2,808 pieces of school furniture will be purchased through the program, with an investment of around R$1,321,290 in resources to purchase the furniture. The furniture that must be provided is: wooden office chair, school desk with clipboard, long wooden bench, double-sided bookshelf, wooden bunk bed and round table for meetings.
