ASA beat Sergipe in Aracaju only once in history

-

It’s not long before the 2024 Series D begins, but expectations are high. For ASA fans it is no different. The problem is that, right from the start, Fantasma will face an indigestible opponent: Sergipe, playing in Aracaju. And this context is historically negative for the black and white team, who beat their rival as a visitor only once in official competitions.

This happened on February 24, 1980, in the now extinct Silver Cup. Sergipe and ASA dueled in the capital of Sergipe and the Arapiraquenses won 1-0, with a goal from midfielder Américo.

Since then, there have been many reunions, most of them in Series D. However, since then, the victory has not gone to the Alagoas side of history. Sergipe and ASA met again six times in Aracaju. There were four red-and-white victories and two draws.

In the last three editions of Série D (2021, 2022 and 2023), curiously the teams were in the same group and Gipão won every time they played at home. In Arapiraca, the balance was latent: a victory for ASA, a draw and a victory for Sergipe.

In the overall history, there are 13 clashes recorded by official competitions. Alvinegro only won on three occasions. In addition, there were three draws and seven victories for Sergipe.

The 14th clash between them in history is scheduled for next Saturday, the 26th, at 4 pm, at Arena Batistão, in Aracaju.
