This past Monday (22), the Federal Government launched the Believe Program, aiming to benefit individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs), microenterprises and small businesses. In Sergipe, with a total of 153,354 enterprises in these segments in the state, the initiative seeks to create conditions to expand access to credit, renegotiate debts and offer more support to these sectors of the economy.

Crédito is based on four main axes. The first (Acredita no Primeiro Passo) is a microcredit program for those enrolled in CadÚnico.

The second (Believe in your business) is aimed at companies, through the Desenrola Pequenos Negócios and Procred 360 program. There is also a front that aims to create a secondary market for real estate credit.

Finally, there is the bet on Eco Invest Brasil – Exchange Protection for Green Investments (PTE), which aims to encourage foreign investments in sustainable projects in Brazil.

Sergipe has 43,775 units in the microenterprise sector, being part of the more than 6.69 million registered nationwide. As for small businesses, there are 6,971 registrations in Sergipe, of the more than 1.21 million across the country that can benefit from expanded access to credit through the Believe Program.

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, highlighted the importance of these measures during the program’s launch event, held at Palácio do Planalto. “There is nothing more essential for a society, whatever it may be, to develop, if it is not able to have opportunities and if it does not have credit. We are creating the conditions so that, regardless of quantity, social origin, size of business, people have the right to access the financial system and get credit”, he stated.
