During the 9th to 11th of April, Embrapa Roraima promoted the “Honey Production Chain Workshop”, an initiative to boost bee production in the state. The event was held by Embrapa Roraima in partnership with Embrapa Amazônia Oriental and Embrapa Meio Norte, with the support of SEBRAE-RR and financial support from the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA). The workshop is part of the initial stage of the project where it was planned to carry out a diagnosis of the honey production chain in Roraima. For its execution, Embrapa Roraima had the participation of researchers from Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (Belém, PA) and Embrapa Meio Norte (Teresina, PI) with extensive experience in beekeeping. To obtain information about the production chain, workshops were held with beekeepers, technicians and representatives of the Roraimel cooperative, during which different topics related to the stages of honey production and processing were discussed. Rural technical assistance technicians, members of the state’s honey production chain, producers, associations and research institutions participated in the event. The workshop schedule was held over three days: On the first day (04/09), researchers from Embrapa Meio Norte, Bruno de Souza and Fabia de Mello and Daniel Pereira from Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, visited beekeeping areas in PA Nova Amazônia , municipality of Boa Vista-RR, accompanied by the project coordinator, Ramayana Braga from Embrapa Roraima. On the second day (10/04), the “Work Workshop” was held in the SEBRAE auditorium, with the aim of obtaining a diagnosis and building action strategies for monitoring and training in good practices in the production and processing of honey. On the third day (11/04), Embrapa researchers met to identify points considered limiting or that need to be improved in honey production, in addition to developing a work plan to conduct demonstration units on the use of good practices in beekeeping to be carried out in areas with beekeeping activity. The TED MEL project The TED MEL project is a project to structure and strengthen the honey production chain in the state, financed by the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) and executed by Embrapa in partnership with Roraimel. The project is the result of coordination between Embrapa Roraima and the state’s parliamentary bench and federal deputy Albuquerque, from the Republican party, who played a fundamental role in coordinating with the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) the allocation of resources to Embrapa Roraima through of a Decentralized Execution Term (TED).
