Works on the Tancredo Neves/Coroa do Meio bridge: The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sergipe obtained an injunction that reverses a decision by the State Court of Auditors (TCE), suspending work on the Tancredo Neves/Coroa do Meio bridge. The measure represents a victory for the state government, which can now continue with a vital project for the development and mobility of the capital.

The court decision was the result of a Writ of Mandamus filed by the State of Sergipe against the act of the President of the TCE of Sergipe. The government argued that the suspension of works, requested by the TCE, unduly interfered with an ongoing bidding process, which aims to build a cable-stayed bridge and a viaduct of great importance for the region’s infrastructure.

The project, under the responsibility of the Secretariat for Urban Development and Infrastructure (SEDURBI), envisages the execution of works that include a viaduct approximately 180 meters long, at the intersection of Avenida Tancredo Neves and Avenida Beira Mar, and a cable-stayed bridge with 360 meters, connecting Avenida Tancredo Neves to the Coroa do Meio neighborhood, in Aracaju.

The bidding, which is still ongoing, has been the target of precautionary measures by the TCE, which even ordered the suspension of the bidding procedure even before the appeals presented by the bidders had been judged. The injunction granted by the Court suspends these precautionary decisions, allowing the bidding process to proceed as planned.

The resumption of works represents not only an advance for the capital’s infrastructure, but also an opportunity to boost the region’s economic and social development. The construction of the Tancredo Neves/Coroa do Meio bridge aims to significantly improve urban mobility and citizens’ quality of life, in addition to stimulating the growth and integration of different areas of the city.

The court decision reiterates the legality and importance of the project, ensuring that the government can continue working towards the progress and well-being of the population of Sergipe.
