Last Tuesday, April 30, the State UPA of Feira de Santana, managed by the National Institute of Technology and Health (INTS), hosted a series of activities in reference to Abril Verde, a month dedicated to raising awareness about health and safety in the work environment. With a diverse program, the initiative aimed to draw attention to the prevention of workplace accidents and reinforce the importance of caring for the well-being of employees.

The action began on April 29th, with the distribution of gifts to employees, a symbolic gesture of recognition for each one’s daily dedication. Soon afterwards, an exhibition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was held, highlighting the relevance of the correct and appropriate use of these materials for the safety of all professionals. Furthermore, on April 29th and 30th, a vaccination station was set up on the UPA premises, offering the opportunity for employees to update their vaccinations.

Occupational Safety technician, Valdemira Do Vale, one of the organizers of the event, highlighted the importance of immunization as an integral part of prevention measures and occupational health care. “Immunization is not just individual protection, but a measure to ensure the safety and well-being of the entire team. By vaccinating ourselves, we not only protect ourselves against diseases, but we also contribute to the preservation of occupational health and continue our work safely.”

The highlight of the program occurred on April 30th, with the presence of Institutional Psychologist Rafael Lima. In his speech, Rafael emphasized the relevance of self-care and mental health in the workplace. “It is essential that we take time for self-reflection and evaluate its importance. Often, we are so immersed in work that we neglect this essential moment. We must ask ourselves if we have taken time to reflect at home or if we are so overwhelmed that we arrive tired and just “we switch off”. These are aspects to be considered, especially by healthcare workers”, said the psychologist.
