Forecasts indicate that the weather will remain firm and hot in the central portion of Brazil, with temperatures that can reach 35°C and create a brief heat wave.
Much of Brazil – including Minas Gerais, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Mato Grosso and practically the entire Northeast – are with heavy rain warnings in force due to the accumulated highs being recorded. Thanks to severe weatherthere is even a risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding, landslides and electrical discharges.
However, while some states suffer from severe storms and heavy rains, other regions of Brazil continue to experience very low probability of rain It is predominantly open and dry weather. This occurs as a result of the presence of a high pressure zone.
A region in question It comprises the States of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as well as a large part of Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, as seen in the image above. The models indicate that, at least until Sunday (07), there will be predominance of firm weather. Isolated light blows may even occur, but there is no forecast of significant rain.
Heat returns to the region, with highs exceeding 30°C
With steady weather and the absence of intense clouds, the sun is also more present in the central region of Brazil, contributing to an increase in temperatures. Forecasts indicate anomalies up to 3°C above average between São Paulo and Paraná.
On Friday (05), for example, most municipalities will register maximum temperatures above 30°C during the afternoon, reaching 35°C in Mato Grosso do Sul, west of São Paulo and north of Paraná. Check out the predicted minimum/maximum temperatures for the 5th in some of the main cities:
How temperatures can remain high for more than two daysthe episode could be classified as a heat wave by National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) over the next few days.
Still, temperatures will not come close to the record values recorded in Marchwhich reached 40°C.
This is because, climatologically, April is a colder month than March. In the South and Southeast regions, the month of April tends to be, on average, 2°C colder than March. Furthermore, we are already in the Falla station transition to winter.
IN SUMMARY, the weather remains firm and hot at least until Sunday, configuring a possible heat wave that encompasses states such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. Fortunately, temperatures will not be as high as those recorded in March.
Either way, this can be one of the last episodes of autumn heatas forecasts indicate a strong tendency for cold air masses to enter and temperatures to fall already in the second half of April.
