Health Bulletin records over 23,300 confirmed cases of dengue

Paraná recorded another 44,985 notifications and 23,396 confirmed cases of dengue in one week. There are still 10,454 discarded cases. In total, since July 30 last year, the State has already received 351,325 notifications, 159,357 confirmed cases, 101,879 discarded cases and 77 deaths. The data comes from the weekly disease report prepared and published by the State Department of Health (Sesa) this Tuesday (2).

Also according to the bulletin, the State’s 399 municipalities have already registered dengue notifications and 389 have had confirmed cases. Only 10 cities do not have confirmed cases of dengue: Adrianópolis, Agudos do Sul, Doutor Ulysses, Piên, Fernandes Pinheiro, Rio Azul, Paula Freitas, Coronel Domingos Soares, Honório Serpa and Santana do Itararé.

The bulletin recorded no new deaths from the disease. Sesa’s Environmental Surveillance Coordination continues to monitor and assist municipalities in the investigation and closure of suspected dengue deaths. Municipal health teams are responsible for investigating suspected deaths from the disease, and, after concluding the cases, they must update and close the information in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (Sinan) of the Ministry of Health.

The 77 deaths already confirmed by the disease were registered in the municipalities of Antonina, Chopinzinho, São João, Ampére, Cruzeiro do Iguaçu, Dois Vizinhos, Nova Esperança do Sudoeste, Salto do Lontra, Santa Terezinha de Itaipu, Boa Vista da Aparecida, Capitão Leônidas Marques , Cascavel, Lindoeste, Nova Aurora, Quedas do Iguaçu, Luiziana, Mariluz, Cianorte, Marilena, Paranavaí, Planaltina do Paraná, Mandaguari, Maringá, Sarandi, Apucarana, Arapongas, Cambira, Jandaia do Sul, Cambé, Londrina, Rolândia, Cornélio Procópio , Siqueira Campos, Terra Roxa, Toledo and Ivaiporã.

COMPARATIVE – The Sesa document also presents a comparison of records made in epidemiological weeks 31 to 13 since 2019 (reports begin in week 31 of each year). In the 2019/2020 period, for example, this same week Paraná had 204,807 notifications, 87,900 confirmed cases and 69 deaths. Compared to current data, the increase was 71.53% in notifications, 81.29% in confirmed cases and 11.59% in deaths. In relation to 2022/2023, with 14,032 confirmed cases and 12 deaths, the increases are 1,035% and 541%.

CHIKUNGUNYA AND ZIKA VIRUS – The report also records 64 new notifications and five confirmed cases of chikungunya in the State. In total, Paraná has 987 notifications and 97 confirmed cases. Regarding the Zika virus, among the 93 notifications, there are no records of confirmed cases of the disease in the State.
