A strong storm caused damage and flooding in Nova Serrana, in the Center-West of Minas, this Tuesday (2/4). A truck was even swept away by the force of the flood, and some cars were partially submerged.
The wall of a football field collapsed. Several streets were flooded, and water invaded some commercial establishments. The intense rain lasted more than an hour.
Until early Tuesday evening, the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG) and Civil Defense were still responding to the incidents. There had been no reports of injuries as of 6:30 p.m.

In a statement, Nova Serrana City Hall reported that it is investigating the damage caused. Mayor Euzebio Lago stated that “the administration will spare no effort to repair the damage caused”.
Civil Defense began monitoring work in some of the most affected regions and provided support to families in risk areas. The agency reinforced that, if cracks are observed in walls, ceilings and floors of properties with an imminent risk of collapse or landslides, the population should immediately leave the risk area and contact 199.
In dangerous or emergency situations, the guidance is to call the security agencies: Firefighters (193), Municipal Guard (153) or Civil Defense (199).
